It’s the perfect weekend to explore the natural world around Coggeshall! Learn about all those birds flying around our fields and high over the water. Our site is a unique landscape, including not only fields for farming, but a salt marsh. Guests will learn about why a property on the bay was in demand and how we used the flora nature provides through foraging. We will also explore our relationship with the wild animals around us.

Schedule

Guests can explore the farm at their own pace and many activities will be happening throughout the day. We will also have several timed activities including:

11:00 am: Storytime!

Perfect for children of all ages! Hear a reading of You Are Never Alone by Elin Kelsey. This book draws examples from the clouds and the cosmos, the seafloor and the surface of our skin, to show how we are never alone: we are always surrounded and supported by nature.

11:00 am: Coggeshall’s Wild Side!

The animals around Coggeshall that were not raised by humans still had deep impacts on our site. Learn about these animals, from the osprey above to the groundhogs below.

12:30 pm: The Flora and Fauna of the Salt Marsh

What makes Coggeshall stand out is the connection we have to Narragansett Bay through the salt marsh. Learn some of the details of the creatures and plants that thrive out on the water

2:00pm: Foraging!

Farmers raised a lot of their own food, but sometimes they turned to the bounty that nature provides. What things might a farmer find in their own backyard?

3:00 pm: Storytime!

Perfect for children of all ages! Hear a reading of You Are Never Alone by Elin Kelsey. This book draws examples from the clouds and the cosmos, the seafloor and the surface of our skin, to show how we are never alone: we are always surrounded and supported by nature.
