10th, 17th | Historic Foodways and Hearth Cooking Workshop

Participants in this workshop will spend an evening at Coggeshall Farm Museum exploring what it meant to "eat local" in 1790's Rhode Island. Working from Amelia Simmons' American Cookery, the first American cookbook, originally published in 1796, guests will prepare several receipts at the hearth using produce raised on the farm before sitting down to enjoy dinner by candlelight. This workshop is limited to eight participants and is intended for ages 16 and up. Reservations are required, please register by the Wednesday prior to the workshop.

21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th | Kids in the Kitchen
Kids and their families will get a chance to learn how to cook farm raised produce over the fire at the hearth of the 18th century Tenant Farmhouse. We'll start by selecting produce preserved for winter storage, investigate old recipes in an 18th century cookbook, and then prepare a dish the way it was done 200 years ago!

For safety reasons, one adult may not accompany more than two children.
